Rind is a locally and family-owned artisanal cheese and gourmet foods shop in Barrington, Rhode Island, specializing in charcuterie boards and gift baskets.
We offer an ever-evolving curated selection of domestic and imported cheeses, perfect for assembling charcuterie boards, along with charcuterie, jams, honey, chocolates, olives, and various gourmet foods that make excellent gift baskets.
We offer upscale gift baskets filled with gourmet foods, handcrafted serving boards, and cheese tools. Additionally, we provide various sizes of beautifully arranged charcuterie boards and cheese platters for all occasions!
Our Story
Ashley and Tim came together in a restaurant, not over candlelight as you might expect, but one night during a staff 'family meal' at Juniper in Wellesley, MA. As head chef, Tim had whipped up his Shakshuka—a bright and spicy tomato-based Mediterranean dish with poached eggs—accompanied by homemade pita he crafted from scratch. Ashley, the restaurant’s award-winning mixologist, knew exactly what spirited accompaniment was in order: Mezcal, Green Chartreuse, lime, simple syrup, a dash of grapefruit bitters, and a bar-spoon of her own habanero tincture (known henceforth as the Sea Nymph). It turned out to be a perfect pairing, in more ways than one, and a lasting collaboration was born.
Underlying their unique alchemy is a passion for and deep knowledge of flavor. After decades in the industry—during which they co-authored a cookbook, launched a ramen pop-up, and navigated the pandemic by serving up culinary experiments to their family each night—a dream of a fromagerie began to ferment. After all, what has a more eclectic array of aromas, flavors, textures, and pairing possibilities than cheese?
Cheese has a rind to protect it from the elements, but it also imparts its own unique characteristics. As purveyors, Ashley and Tim will lovingly source a fine Epoisses de Bourgogne or, for the adventurous, suggest a unique picnic—bottling Grüner Veltliner (from Grapes & Grains next door!) paired with a lavender-and-honey-infused goat cheese, spread atop…wait for it…homemade Rice Krispie treats (ask her nicely for her recipe). This seemingly bizarre combination is transcendent! The only thing Ashley and Tim enjoy more than making these culinary discoveries is sharing them through their charcuterie boards and gift baskets filled with gourmet foods. Stop by and say hello!
